I have been a personal trainer for almost 8 years now and believe me I have heard it all.
- too tired
- too old
- too full / haven't eaten
- too much work
- too early / late
- too hot / cold
- I dont feel my best
- I forgot my shoes
- I'm drunk (seriously)
- I forgot
- I'm too sore etc etc etc etc
After a while all a trainer hears is "I am not really committed enough".
Most of my clients come to me for weight loss. This inevitably means looking at their diet. Things I hear constantly are "I just can't change my food" or " I needed a treat".
Why can't you change your food? Do you have no arms to prepare your food? Do you have no voice to say what you would like to eat? Or do you just not want to?
"Oh they gave me my eggs on a piece of bread." So take the eggs off the bread. It's not Rocket Science.
You are the master of how you look and feel. The single most important exercise for weight loss is the plate to mouth curl.
Giving up crap food is not hard. Being homeless is hard, suffering from a degenerative disease is hard. Giving up bread is not.
Now for the idea that you need/deserve a treat. "You deserve this" is a statement we are bombarded with on TV and social media.
Why do you deserve that chocolate, or doughnut, or beer? Someone living in poverty deserves that doughnut. Not you.
All the treats that you "deserved" are what got you to this point in the first place. Your body deserves to be treated with respect. Not turned into a junk food tip.
Finding reasons to not train will only make you weaker. Finding reasons to eat treats will only make you fatter.
If you really mean it, and you really want to lose weight, get stronger, feel younger, have more energy then HARDEN UP!
Get out of bed, put down the doughnut and train hard. Spend time in the gym when you don't want to, don't eat the hot chips when you do want to. Build some character and become the person you want to be.
Anything really good takes sacrifice. I have been healthy and fit and I have been the opposite.
Healthy and fit is better.
Lift heavy, build fitness
